Report of the campaign “You Are Syrian, You Are My Brother" by Annas linnas Association Annas linnas Association has launched the program "You Are Syrian, You Are My Brother" aiming to support the Syrian refugees who fled to Lebanon due to the painful situation in the sister Syrian Arab Republic. Hereby, in this report, we present to the involved people the latest activities of this program. In supporting to this activity, the Association has held a charity fasting lunch on Sunday 25 March 2012 at Al Mokhalles monastery school, Joun, where some members of the association participated in addition to a number of friends and supporters. The High School of Al Mokhalles monastery, Joun organized an event entitled "Balade gourmande", which lasted for 3 days, and the students sold the food. The students of Saint Joseph Sisters School, Saida, provided amount of money. As well as, a number of friends and members of the association provided contributions. On Sunday 29 July 2012, under the slogan "You Are Syrian, You Are My Brother, and within this campaign, the association's president accompanying 2 members, Mr. Pierre Al Khouri, Ms. Marla Eid and Mr. Roland Younes, visited the families of the Syrian Refugees who are living in Zahleh, Lebanon. 16 families were supported with 150,000 L.L (100 US $) per each family, that's to say the total of financial contributions is 2,400,000 L.L This amount is a result of: 450,000 L.L from selling the food event held by Al Mokhalles monastery school, Joun Al Chouf. 500,000 L.L from Saint Joseph Sisters School, Saida. 860,000 L.L from the fasting lunch which the association organized in March 2012. 590,000 L.L from friends' contributions. Most of those families fled from Homs region, especially Al Qaseer town, which its situation is so miserable, the houses were stolen and destroyed by the parties of conflict in Syria. Its citizens live in Lebanon today in semi-houses with no health insurance. While the luckiest person is the one who could get a simple job and a small house. Here are 2 Syrian families, who live together in a rented house, which is composed of 2 rooms and 1 kitchen. The family of Mr. A.L., his wife and 3 children and the family of Mr. S.L., his wife and 2 children in addition to an unemployed brother, and a paralyzed sister who was effected by the war. There is also the family of Mr. W.D. who started to work recently as a guard in a building as a payment to his accommodation in 1 room and 1 kitchen with his family which is composed of 5 persons. He has explained about his miserable situation and how after 1 month of his displacement to Lebanon, his eldest son, who didn’t exceed 20 years old yet, has felt down from the building during his work that he was surviving out of it, and he is still paralyzed. They are poor families, afraid even from a photo or declaring their names because everything is getting worrying, there is no work, not a little help, no insurance, their children left school, they are so confused about their future. Unfortunately, and due to many rumors and different interpretations, we assure that this campaign is purely a social and human one, and it is reaching to an end on these bases. We reassure that the doors’ association will remain open according to our modest capacities for all those who are ever in need, regardless of his belonging, religion, belief and nationality. We pray God (creator of all), that peace and understanding would prevail among all people and especially the disputants. We also raise our voice to all those who can provide whatever kind of support. We do sincerely hope that good is stronger than evil, love is stronger than hatred, peace is stronger than wars May God have mercy on all victims; help all those in pain, condolences the sad persons, and lead all.
